When I was little, we discovered carob. Tasted like chocolate, but was dairy free, which made it safe for my younger brother. We really liked it. But after awhile, finding carob was a real challenge. I don’t remember finding it again until after I learned about Celiac Disease. And then, all the carob I could find was sweetened with barley, so that was a no go.
Then I discovered Missy J’s Carob Chips. They’re sweetened with coconut sugar. I was very excited to try them, but when I looked online, I discovered they also sold a brownie mix with wheat in the ingredients. So instead of buying the carob chips, I emailed the company. Their reply is below. (As of this writing, I still have not tried the carob chips, but I hope to, sooner or later!)
“Our Brownie mix is made in a completely different facility than our carob products. We understand the importance of the Gluten-Free claim, and please be assured that all of our carob products are safe for those highly sensitive to gluten. There is no gluten products sharing space with our GF carob products.”
