Reason behind lack of posts from 2017 – 2020

This is also the reason behind why this site was offline for so long.

As some of you know, I was widowed in January 2019. My late wife was diagnosed with a rare, chemo-resistant cancer (uterine leiomyosarcoma) in 2017. The medical system grossly failed her, and put her in indescribable pain for the last 3 months of her life.

I was doing everything I could possibly think of to get help and care for her. I was not focused on keeping anything updated. Because of that, my site became vulnerable and was hacked. Every single post had code added, so I couldn’t just export the site, wipe it out, and re-import it.

To fix my site, I’ve had to install a clean version of WordPress on my computer, retype every single post, re-add all of the media, and so forth, and then wipe out the original site and only then, import the new site. I’ve also decided while I was having to do this, to do a full site renovation, which has also involved adding new sections and redoing a lot of site content.

I had/have PTSD from what happened to my wife, and from being widowed. And of course depression. I rarely had the energy to redo more than 2-3 posts at a time. I’d go for months at a time with no interest in fixing my site at all. And then there was the pandemic, and although I didn’t get sick, I had even less energy. I did keep my blog’s FB page in action, and Twitter from time-to-time. I tried to keep with Instagram, but am lacking in posts over there. Updating IG will come next.

In late 2020, I unexpectedly met a wonderful woman, and not only have we been together since, but she gave me the encouragement I needed to finally get everything finalized and back online. That said, I still had a lot of work to do, but now everything is ready to launch.

I hope you will all like the new version of Gluten Free & Tasty!, and find it useful.
