A few weeks ago, I picked up a chocolate fudge cookie, I believe from one of the health food stores in Roanoke, VA. The cookie is by Liz Lovely, and if you haven’t tried her products, based on this one cookie, you need to become acquainted with her work!
The cookie is certified vegan, and is gluten free but not certified. However, they test their products periodically, and repeatedly test below 5ppm! I sampled the cookie on a day when I didn’t have to go anywhere, just in case. I am happy to report it didn’t bother me at all, and I can’t wait to get more!
This cookie has the wonderful texture of a brownie, combined with delectable chunks of dark chocolate. You’ll definitely want to let the cookie thaw at least a little bit, or those chunks will be very hard to bite through! The surface of the cookie is sprinkled with sugar, but unless your cookie completely thaws before you eat it, it’s unlikely to make your hands sticky.
The package I bought had two cookies in it. They are so rich that even I couldn’t eat them in one sitting – even after I shared with Teresa (who also loved them). I kept the leftovers in the original packaging, but also placed them in a Ziplock Freezer bag before refreezing it. It tasted completely fresh each time I took it back out of the freezer.
If you love chocolate and fudge, I highly recommend you give this cookie a try!
Update 8 October 2020: LizLovely has apparently given up baking at some point for some sort of online dating chat lines.
